Gas Line Services We Handle
New gas line installation
Running a new line from the meter to wherever you need it: kitchen range, water heater, dryer, fireplace, outdoor grill, or a whole-home standby generator. We size the line correctly for the appliance load and run it to code.
Gas line extension
Already have gas in the house but need to reach a new location? We extend existing lines without disrupting what's already working.
Leak detection and repair
If you smell gas, hear a hiss near a line or fitting, or your gas bill has jumped without explanation, we find the source and fix it. We pressure-test the system before and after every repair.
Appliance connection
New range, tankless water heater, or gas dryer going in? We make the connection properly — the right fittings, the right pressure, tested before we leave.
Electric-to-gas conversion
Switching from electric appliances to gas. We run the line, make the connection, and handle the permit.
Gas line inspection
Buying a home, remodeling, or just haven't had the lines looked at in years? We inspect and pressure-test the full system.
Not sure which fits your situation?
Call us and we'll walk through it — no obligation, no sales pitch.
Natural Gas or Propane — What's in Your Home Matters
Most homes in the Charlotte metro run on natural gas supplied by Piedmont Natural Gas through a meter at the house. If you’re in a more rural area of Mint Hill or the surrounding communities without access to the gas main, you may be on propane stored in a tank on your property.
The distinction matters because the line materials, fittings, regulator pressures, and appliance settings are different between the two. We work with both — and we’ll confirm which system you’re on before any work begins.

What's Running Through Your Walls
Black iron pipe — The traditional standard. Durable, reliable, used in most homes built before the 1990s. Repairs and extensions are straightforward when done by someone who knows what they’re doing.
CSST (Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing) — Flexible yellow or black jacketed tubing common in homes built or renovated since the 1990s. Faster to install, but requires proper bonding to protect against lightning-induced damage. If you have CSST and don’t know whether it’s been properly bonded, that’s worth checking.
Copper — Used for gas in some older installations, though less common. Acceptable for certain applications but not permitted for natural gas in all jurisdictions.
We work with all three and will tell you exactly what’s in your system.
How a Gas Line Job Works With MQ Plumbing
You call and describe what you need
New run, extension, repair, or inspection. We ask a few questions about your setup: gas type, appliance, location, whether there's existing access. We get you on the schedule.
We assess and quote on-site
A licensed plumber looks at the job, maps the run, checks the existing system, and gives you a written quote. That number is fixed before any work begins.
We do the work, test the system, pull the permit
Every gas line installation and most repairs require a permit in Mecklenburg County and surrounding jurisdictions. We handle it. After the work is done, we pressure-test the full system. You don't get a "looks good" — you get a tested, inspected line.
Ready to Get Started?
Whether it's a new line, an extension, or something that needs to be looked at today — MQ Plumbing handles gas line work safely, correctly, and on the schedule you need.

We recently completed our basement project and hired MQ Plumbing for our full bathroom and whole-house water filtration system, and they did an outstanding job. The bathroom turned out beautiful with amazing attention to detail and high-quality workmanship. Our family is extremely happy with the final result. The whole-house Aquasana filtration system was also installed very neatly and professionally with a super clean and organized piping layout. Max was one of the best contractors we worked with during this project. He is professional, patient, and truly listens to every detail before starting the work. Unlike some contractors who become less responsive once the project begins, Max stayed responsive throughout and even came back twice after completion to make sure there were no leaks and that we were fully satisfied. You can clearly see that he takes pride in his work and cares about customer satisfaction. I would highly recommend MQ Plumbing and would definitely call Max again for any future plumbing needs.Posted on Joseph DominguezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I hired Max and his team to run water and sewer plumbing from my house to the new city tap down by the road. It was about a 200ft distance and a big job. Along the way I asked him to add a water line to the basement fridge, keep the well plumbed up to the irrigation system, and even dig out an old poured concrete post with the excavator. He helped me out a lot. His team was great: very respectful, good communication regarding timelines, amazing quality of work, and very reasonably priced! Max is my plumber now and I would not hesitate to hire him out for future jobs.
